A letter from President Nathan Hatch to the community
Dear Wake Forest Faculty, Staff and Students,
Commencement season is a time of celebration and new beginnings for those about to graduate. It is also a time to say thank you and bid farewell to many of our friends, colleagues and mentors who have made Wake Forest University their home.
Please join me in congratulating and commemorating a marvelous class of Reynolda Campus faculty and staff retiring from Wake Forest this year. We are profoundly grateful for the countless contributions from this remarkable group of individuals, who together have more than 600 years of service to the University:
The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) is pleased to announce the results of the 2014 election. The seven new SAC representatives are: Jennifer Abbinett (Human Resources), Amy Ciaccia (Financial & Accounting Service), Blake Edmunds (Athletics), Sharon Fortner (University Police), Nancy Metcalf (Center for Global Programs and Studies), Tracy Pinto (Registrar’s Office), Amber Wall (Residence Life & Housing), Rachel Weaver (Information Systems) and Craig Zakrzewski (Athletics).
Wake Forest has appointed Dr. Penny Rue as vice president for campus life. Rue, who currently serves as vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego), is nationally known for her creative leadership in strengthening campus communities.
Rue will oversee most facets of student life with broad responsibility for the well-being and safety of students and their engagement outside the classroom. The departments she will supervise include: Residence Life and Housing, Student Services, Campus Life, Campus Recreation, Student Health Service, the Office of the Chaplain and University Police.
She will assume her new duties mid-July.
