A message from Provost Kersh: Wake United campaign ends Oct. 31

“I’m grateful in this season of thanksgiving for the work the United Way of Forsyth County does locally,” said Provost Rogan Kersh. “United Way remains a vital source of enhancing our community bonds across Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. I encourage those of you so inclined to join me and many other Wake Foresters in providing much-needed resources by contributing to the 2021 Wake United campaign.” You can pledge your gift at unitedway.wfu.edu before the official campaign wraps up on Sunday, Oct. 31.

Together We Live United

From the 2021 Wake United Campaign Cabinet: Each fall, the Wake Forest community comes together for our Wake United Campaign. This collective effort aims to support place based initiatives right here in Forsyth County. We thank you for your generosity; it will take everyone coming together for us to reach our goal to provide critical financial support to our community.

Our 2021 Wake United campaign is underway. To date, we have raised over $70,000. Your donation supports our local United Way in working to create a stable, educated, healthy, and economically mobile Forsyth County. It will take all of us to reach our goal of $270,000 by the end of the campaign on Oct. 31.

2021 Wake United Way Campaign kicks off today

This message is shared on behalf of the 2021 Wake United Campaign Cabinet; WFU’s 2021 Wake United Campaign launches on Sept. 28 and runs through Oct. 31: As we have collectively faced the challenges of the last year and a half, our committee is encouraged by the enduring spirit of Pro Humanitate. Through acts of service, advocacy and philanthropy, we have seen our community respond intentionally and generously to the current moment. Notably, our Wake Forest community raised over $268,000 during the 2020-2021 annual United Way of Forsyth County (UWFC) campaign. Because of your support, UWFC was able to serve over 140,000 people right here in our community.

A message of thanks from the United Way Campaign

Sent on behalf of President Hatch and Brad Shugoll (Campaign Chair): Today, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our campus community. Collectively through your efforts, we raised $256,334 for our 2020 United Way campaign. This total speaks to your generosity even amidst hardship. Thank you for rising to this moment and answering the call. We know that these donations are just a part of what you have contributed to our community over the past several months. Thank you for all you have done as volunteers, donors and civic leaders.

A message from President Hatch announcing United Way 2020 Campaign launch

I remain grateful for the response all Wake Foresters have demonstrated over past months as we have navigated our current challenges. I am humbled by and proud of the ways our Wake Forest community continues to support the mission of this place, whether in the classroom, in administrative support offices, in our dining locations, among our groundskeeping and facilities operations, campus security and so many other functions. Thank you most sincerely.I write you today regarding our annual United Way campaign. This year, perhaps more than ever, our community is experiencing new levels of hardship. The work of United Way in coordinating efficient and effective response to community need remains a model that works. Our local United Way has been remarkably successful in addressing need and actually moving the needle toward response and solutions.

A message from President Hatch announcing funds raised for the United Way

President Hatch emailed this message to students, faculty and staff on February 17:
Through the generosity of Wake Forest faculty, staff and retirees, I am happy to report that our 2019 campus-wide United Way effort raised $283,951 in pledges and direct gifts, with 607 donors.  My thanks to all who contributed to this annual campaign.  Each of these gifts – whether large or small – represents an investment in our local community that builds capacity and addresses human need, helping to build a community that allows each of us to flourish.  My sincere thanks to all.  I am proud of our Wake Forest community.
