Wake Forest establishes research center in the Amazon

The Centro de Innovación Científica Amazónico (CINCIA), known internally as The Amazon Center for Environmental Research and Sustainability (ACERS), has been established through the University’s Center for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability (CEES). The new research center aims to develop transformative solutions to promote sustainable use of tropical landscapes, combat environmental destruction and improve human health in the Amazonian province of Madre de Dios (MDD) in Peru.

Dear Wake Forest students, faculty and staff,

The conclusion of spring semester offers an opportunity for reflection. Recently, I’ve been thinking about the nature of our campus – a dynamic learning community that embraces individuals. Together, through face-to-face conversation, we increasingly appreciate differences and engage each other with respect and understanding. Each day, we continue to create a better culture and an institution that is greater than the sum of our parts.


10-digit dialing begins April 23

Beginning Saturday, April 23, 2016, 10-digit dialing (area code + the seven-digit telephone number) will be necessary for local and expanded local calls to be completed. This requirement is the result of a new area code being introduced for the Piedmont region of North Carolina.


Update: New details announced for Staff Appreciation Picnic

Staff may now register for the Staff Appreciation Picnic planned for June 9. While registration is not required, it helps the Staff Advisory Council and the Office of Wellbeing in preparing for the big event. Hundreds of staff members are expected for the picnic planned for BB&T Field from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on that day.
