In the spirit of Pro Humanitate, Wake Forest not only provides for its students, faculty and staff, but also the community beyond the gates. That is why the University continues to partner with the local United Way.

Wake Forest was recognized earlier this year for the 2011 United Way campaign – one of 30 institutions honored across North Carolina. Now it is time to kick off the 2012 campaign, which runs Oct. 1-31.

“Particularly at a place like Wake Forest where we believe in Pro Humanitate, I think we do have a deep responsibility to our community,” President Nathan Hatch said in his video on the United Way website, unitedway.wfu.edu.  The website includes information about upcoming events and a video message from Hatch.

One big change this year is the electronic pledging system, instead of the previous paper forms. Employees should check their inbox for an email from Hatch. It will include a personalized link to an online pledge process.

Campaign chair John Dinan and vice chair Lynn Sutton said that they hope Wake Foresters take the opportunity to learn more about the impact of the United Way through a lunchtime bus trip from the University to the Prosperity Center on Oct. 11. A boxed lunch will be provided, and registration will be handled through the Professional Development Center.
