Admissions and Student Support Manager Tim Silva (’09, MA in Counseling ’11) was recently recognized for his service to the Department of Counseling and to the Pi Alpha Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society.

“I was pleasantly surprised and deeply honored to receive this recognition and award of appreciation,” said Silva. “It’s a distinct pleasure to guide and assist our students on their journey to becoming professional counselors. Our program and its faculty do an amazing job training the next generation of helping professionals, making the world a better place every day.”

At the CSI chapter initiation, Silva’s colleagues and friends honored him with stories that showcased his commitment to the Department and his exceptional work and leadership in supporting staff, students, prospective students, faculty, and alumni over the last 15 years.

“When I think of Tim, a host of positive qualities come to mind – consistent, congruent, dependable, patient, thoughtful, compassionate, steady, efficient, balanced, and extremely confident. Tim is an extraordinary colleague whose efforts help to guide this ship,” said Professor, Interim Director of the Office of Online Education, Nate Ivers

Silva is a Double Deac who received his Master of Arts in Counseling in 2011 and his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology in 2009. He has been deeply involved with the Department of Counseling for more than 15 years, serving as a Practitioner Instructor/Adjunct Lecturer from 2014 to 2020, and serving in his current role as Admissions and Student Support Manager since 2020.

The University’s CSI chapter embodies the dedication to service, advocacy, and careful attention to fellow humans that is present in all mental health counselors, according to Silva. He continued, “It’s immensely rewarding to support the mission and vision of the Counseling Department at Wake Forest, and each student interaction underscores that feeling of meaning.”
