Steph Trilling named director of Women's Center

Steph Trilling has been named the new director of Wake Forest’s Women’s Center, effective July 1. The University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) announced her appointment.
Trilling joined Wake Forest in fall 2017 as assistant director of the Safe Office. In that position, she oversaw all functions of the Safe Office, while leading the campus community in efforts to ensure high quality crisis response, advocacy, and counseling services to students who had experienced sexual or relationship violence. She also developed campus-wide programing for students, staff, and faculty that focused on outreach and prevention strategies to reduce gender-based violence and abuse.
As the Women’s Center new director, she will bring a collaborative and intersectional approach to advocacy, inclusion, and equity in elevating programming, practice, and policy across ODI and the University, according to Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion José Villalba. She is particularly interested in applying principles of universal design and feminist theories to creating more equitable environments for everyone on campus, while grounding efforts in program analysis and evaluation.
Prior to arriving at Wake Forest, Trilling served in several capacities in the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, including as director of community awareness and prevention. She is a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina and received a Master of Social Work from Salem State University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
