Flu shots: Sept. 21 – Oct. 19
Wake Forest University will offer free flu shots to all faculty, staff and retirees from Monday, Sept. 21 through Oct. 19. Spouses and dependent children (8 years and older) enrolled in the University’s BlueCross BlueShield medical plan are also eligible. In addition to various clinics on campus for current employees, Wake Forest will offer a drive-through flu shot location at LJVM Coliseum to accommodate off-site colleagues, retirees and family members.
Employees can view the Mandatory Influenza Vaccine Policy here and get information about clinic dates and registration, how to request an exemption and how to submit documentation for off-campus flu shots on the designated human resources page.
COVID-19 Dashboard update
Beginning Sept. 8, the COVID-19 Dashboard has been updated with the number of cases in the past two weeks, a sliding date range to view case numbers within a specific period and stacked, daily bars differentiating faculty and staff from students. Learn more and view the Dashboard on the Our Way Forward website.
On June 9, 2020, Wake Forest University officially launched its Inclusive Excellence Framework, called RIDE: Realizing Inclusion, Diversity and Equity. To further engage campus leadership working toward inclusive excellence at Wake Forest, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) will offer several learning opportunities to dive deeper into the framework.
Getting Ready to RIDE: Inclusive Excellence at WFU
This 25-minute online session is an introduction to “all things RIDE.” The video, embedded near the top of the RIDE website, provides an overview of Wake Forest’s framework for inclusive excellence, as well as the tools and resources available to individuals, departments, organizations and institutional leaders striving toward that goal. This asynchronous session is available online and can be taken individually or with your team at any time.
Inclusive Excellence for Leaders: Realizing Inclusion, Diversity and Equity
Intended for leaders and those responsible for leading diversity, inclusion and equity efforts within their organization or department, this 90-minute session is the second in the RIDE workshop series. The first session, “Getting Ready to RIDE,” is strongly recommended but not required as a prerequisite. The ODI will offer a workshop for faculty and staff leaders, as well as a workshop designed for student leaders.
Visit the PDC website for more information and to register for the Inclusive Excellence for Faculty/Staff Leaders: Realizing Inclusion, Diversity and Equity workshop.
You can direct student leaders to the PDC student workshop page for more information and registration.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) invites all Wake Forest faculty and staff to join a virtual event on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. to welcome new faculty and staff with underrepresented identities. The “Welcome and Affinity Experience” is an opportunity to learn about affinity groups and resources and to create a sense of connection and community.
There will be floating community spaces for faculty and staff related to the following groups: International, Women, LGBTQ+, Working families, Jewish, African American/Black women, African American/Black men, Asian, Latinx, Muslim, Disabled, Faculty of Color, as well as an Ally group.
Visit the PDC website to register. Log-in information will be shared with registrants before the event.
