Locklair’s 'Sonata for Flute and Harp' to premiere June 19

Dan Locklair’s “Sonata for Flute and Harp” will be premiered June 19 by flutist Debra Reuter-Pivetta and harpist Jacquelyn Bartlett as part of the American Harp Society Summer Institute 2019. Locklair is a professor of music and composer-in-residence at Wake Forest University.
Sonata for Flute & Harp is the result of a 2018 commission by the North Carolina Harp Ensemble for Jacquelyn Bartlett and Debra Reuter-Pivetta in celebration of the 2019 American Harp Society, Inc. Summer Institute. Composed during summer 2018, Sonata for Flute & Harp is in three movements and is approximately twelve minutes in length, the composer writes, “It is warmly dedicated to Ms. Bartlett and Ms. Reuter-Pivetta.” The piece was published by Subito Music.

Special Deacon Family Hours planned for Father's Day at the Wellbeing Center
A special block of Deacon Family Hours has been scheduled in honor of Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16, at the Wellbeing Center.
The Wellbeing Center, routinely, offers Deacon Family Hours on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Deacon Family Hours provides an opportunity for anyone with an active Wellbeing Center membership to bring their family members to the Wellbeing Center. Access is complimentary to designated recreational areas during that time for family members.
On Father’s Day, Deacon Family Hours will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

CASE presents several awards to Office of University Advancement
Wake Forest’s Office of University Advancement received several awards, recently, from CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education).
Wake Forest Magazine received four of the awards, including the the Robert Sibley Award for best general interest magazine in all categories from CASE.
The magazine received three gold Circle of Excellence Awards:
- General Interest Magazines—Circulation of 75,000 or greater
- Special Issues
- Feature Writing—Profile
University Advancement also received a gold Circle of Excellence Award in the category of Advancement Services: Overall Operations.
The Circle of Excellence Awards recognize outstanding work in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing. The awards are open to professionals working at member colleges, universities, independent schools and their affiliated nonprofits around the world.
Judges may award four levels of recognition: grand gold, gold, silver and bronze.

Our camp offers a variety of traditional and non-traditional sports and activities to keep your camper engaged during the day. A full-day camp experience will include pool time every day and three days at the climbing wall.

Stanton K. Tefft
This announcement was emailed to faculty and staff on June 12 by Wake Forest Communications and External Relations:
We are saddened to announce that Stanton K. Tefft, professor emeritus of anthropology, died June 9.
Information about a service for Dr. Tefft is not available at this time. When a service is announced by his family, information will be provided on the Inside WFU web site. His family also plans for an obituary to appear soon in the Winston-Salem Journal.
Dr. Tefft was a cultural anthropologist who joined Wake Forest’s anthropology faculty in 1964. He retired in 2000. Dr. Tefft was known in the Triad for working closely with the Montagnard community to help them resettle in this region. Also known as the Degar people, they are indigenous to the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
We grieve Dr. Tefft’s death and extend our condolences to his family and friends, as well as those at Wake Forest who had the opportunity to know him.
