The next Staff Advisory Council (SAC) meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Staff will receive an emailed link to the Zoom Webinar the day before each meeting. November meeting topics include spring sports and Title IX updates.

The Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC) has been convened to collect and provide faculty feedback to the Presidential Search Committee. As part of our effort to do so, we invite faculty to join us for a set of listening sessions. These hour-long forums, moderated by the faculty comprising the FAC, offer the opportunity to share the concerns, hopes, and priorities that faculty think should shape the search for and selection of the next University President.

Wake Forest University has joined North Carolina’s chapter of the American Council on Education (ACE) Women’s Network, which helps colleges and universities achieve parity by promoting the advancement of women, providing networking opportunities and assisting those interested in advancing their careers. Steph Trilling, director of Wake Forest’s Women’s Center, and Erica Still, associate dean for faculty recruitment, diversity and inclusion, are the University’s representatives for the state chapter. Moreover, Wake Forest President Nathan O. Hatch is a Presidential Sponsor of NC ACE Women’s Network, which means, among other things, the University has made a commitment to the organization and its goals.

Dan Cohen, executive director of Wake Forest’s Center for Entrepreneurship, has been named a Master Educator by the Annals of Entrepreneurship Education & Pedagogy. Only five professors are selected worldwide for this honor. As part of the Master Educator recognition, Cohen will write for the 2021 annals to share what he has learned over a decade of teaching entrepreneurship, with a focus on the IDEATE method of identifying problems and seeing potential solutions to solve them.

On November 4, 2019, we celebrated the unveiling and dedication of the Wake Forest University Indigenous Land Acknowledgment Plaque, which serves as a symbol on our campus to honor the indigenous peoples and tribal nations that call our campus their homelands. This year, we are happy to share a Land Acknowledgment Statement that can be used by all members of the community to open events or gatherings at Wake Forest or affiliated events.

Mary Christie Quarterly recently featured Wake Forest University director Nicole Brocato in “Interesting People Doing Important Work” for her role in developing Wake Forest’s Wellbeing Assessment and leading the work of the Wellbeing Collaborative. The Wellbeing Assessment was created by a multidisciplinary team at Wake Forest, and since 2017 it has been administered to over 35,000 students at more than 70 colleges and universities across the country. In addition to administering the survey and analyzing data, the Collaborative provides partner schools with training and interactive reporting tools.
