A poem for the WFU Class of 2021: “Closing Remarks” (after a pandemonium)

Wanda Balzano, founding chair and associate professor of Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies, wrote an occasional poem dedicated to the Wake Forest University Class of 2021. The University honored graduates with a series of small diploma ceremonies in the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum and an historic commencement celebration at Truist Field on Sunday, May 16, 2021.


Summer renovations and painting: Benson, Babcock and Winston

Renovations to the Benson University Center first-floor men’s and women’s restrooms, as well as the first-floor wellness room, are scheduled this summer. Additionally, exterior painting projects are scheduled for Babcock Residence Hall and Winston Hall. These Benson, Babcock, and Winston projects are expected to conclude by the end of July 2021.

Wake Forest Museum of Anthropology receives naming gift

The Lam family, Timothy S. Y. Lam (’60), Ellen Lam, his wife, and their sons, Tim Jr. (’93) and Marcus (’98) have created a new academic excellence fund for the Wake Forest Museum of Anthropology. The Museum will be renamed the Timothy S. Y. Lam Museum of Anthropology in honor of Tim Sr. and the Lam family’s support of our mission.


Reminder: Annual Central Heating Plant shutdown May 17-21

As a reminder, the Wake Forest University Central Heating Plant annual shutdown for maintenance and inspections will begin on Monday, May 17, at 3 p.m. and conclude Friday, May 21. The steam outage will disable building heating and domestic hot water systems campus-wide. Barring any delays, steam pressure will return to normal by 6 p.m. on May 21.
