The following announcement was emailed to students, faculty and staff on May 8 by Wake Forest Communications and External Relations:As part of Wake Forest’s security measures for commencement weekend events, any bags of any kind to be brought into Baccalaureate, hooding and commencement ceremony locations will be checked in advance.

A special picnic in appreciation of Wake Forest staff will be held June 4 on Manchester Plaza.Free to all University staff, the picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Executive Vice President Hof Milam will speak at noon .

A garden party in honor of Maya Angelou, the late writer and Wake Forest professor, will be held April 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Bailey Park at Wake Downtown. In case of inclement weather, the event will move to Turbine Hall in Bailey Power Plant.
