Alessandra Beasley Von Burg, professor of communication, presented a paper, “Stochastic Citizenship: Rhetoric, Philosophy and Freedom of Movement,” at the Strangers, Aliens, Foreigners’ Conference at Oriel College, University of Oxford, England. She also chaired the panel “Twists and Turns in Identity.”

Gravitt elected to board

Sara Gravitt, assistant director of Institutional Research, was elected in August as secretary and an officer on the board of the Southern Association for Institutional Research. She will serve a two-year term.


Shick serves on NCAIR board

Adam Shick, associate director of Institutional Research, is serving as immediate past president on the board of the North Carolina Association for Institutional Research (NCAIR). He made a presentation, “Pivot Tables, Microsoft Excel 2007,” at NCAIR’s 2010 conference in Kitty Hawk, N.C.
