Faculty Drive gate to University Parkway and The Grounds is now open

The new Faculty Drive pedestrian gate, connecting the Reynolda campus to the newly constructed pedestrian crosswalk, is officially open. This milestone brings Wake Forest one step closer to a new era of enhanced connectivity, walkability and access, supporting a dynamic Wake Forest and Winston-Salem experience. The new pathway creates easy passage from campus to The Grounds, University Corporate Center, and the Winston-Salem Sports and Entertainment complex.

The campus community is encouraged to use the new gate and crosswalk, along with The Grounds multi-use trail, for upcoming game days. The Grounds will offer sneak peeks of the new multi-use trail, The Grounds Trail, at major events in the area this fall, giving the community a sense of the future advancements in connectivity and the progress underway. Allegacy Stadium is now a short, safe, and exciting walk from campus with additional enhancements planned for the cross-country trails connecting campus to University Parkway. 

Faculty Drive gate

The Faculty Drive gate is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. In the coming months, the Faculty Drive gate will be accessible by using a Deacon One card. No parking is allowed on Faculty Drive.

Restructured University-Cherry Street crossing

The new pedestrian-activated signaled crossing at University Parkway and Cherry Street provides a dedicated, protected crossing phase for pedestrians. Push buttons are located on both sides of University Parkway and in the center median. When activated, the signal system stops vehicle traffic in all directions and displays a WALK signal and countdown, giving pedestrians time to cross University Parkway.

The Grounds Trail

The Grounds Trail takes pedestrian travelers from University Parkway, past Creekside at The Grounds student apartments on the left, the newly restored Silas Creek, and the Retail Village and Office building under construction on the right. The trail will be open three hours prior to kickoff and 90 minutes after the final whistle on game days this fall. Please follow all signage and instructions. The first opportunity to experience the trail comes Thursday, Sept. 3, when Wake Forest opens the football season against Akron. The game also marks Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night at Allegacy Stadium. Each employee may claim up to two sponsored tickets. Claim your tickets.
