The Department of Justice’s Task Force to Combat Antisemitism today canceled $400 million in grants and contracts to Columbia University, reportedly due to the university’s alleged failure to adequately address antisemitism on campus.

According to the Justice Department’s website, the task force was established last month to combat antisemitic harassment in schools and on college campuses.

Its initial efforts, which began this week, focus on investigating incidents since October 2023 at 10 universities: Columbia, George Washington, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, NYU, Northwestern, UCLA, UC Berkeley, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Southern California.

The task force includes representatives from the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services, among other agencies as it expands, and is coordinated through the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.

We will continue to follow developments regarding the task force and aim to provide timely factual updates regarding any significant developments.
