Harrison named ‘Volunteer of the Year’ by IES Abroad
Vice Provost for Global Affairs Kline Harrison has been honored as the 2024 Volunteer of the Year by IES Abroad, the leading not-for-profit study abroad program provider.
This prestigious award recognizes Kline’s dedication to advancing global education by honoring a study abroad administrator and her/his school who have been instrumental in strengthening the mission of IES Abroad in the study abroad field through volunteer efforts.
Harrison’s invaluable contributions came at a pivotal moment, as he was Chair of the General Conference throughout the COVID-19 pandemic—one of the most challenging periods in IES Abroad’s history. Harrison’s strategic guidance helped shape the organization’s tactical response to the pandemic, ensuring IES Abroad emerged stronger.
Demonstrating unparalleled commitment, Harrison extended his tenure as Chair of the General Conference beyond the typical term, providing continuity during a leadership transition that spanned two IES Abroad presidencies. His collaborative and accessible leadership fostered a sense of community within the IES Abroad Consortium, positioning the organization as a trusted leader in the field.
“Kline’s leadership exemplifies the highest ideals of trust, collaboration and resilience,” said Provost Michele Gillespie. “He has not only enhanced Wake Forest’s reputation as a leader in global education but also fostered a spirit of unity within IES Abroad and across Wake Forest. We are immensely proud of his achievements and dedication.”
This well-deserved recognition celebrates Harrison’s enduring impact on international education and his steadfast commitment to strengthening the mission of IES Abroad.
