‘Wake the Arts’ this semester
The Wake the Arts Center’s opening celebration will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. in Scales Lower Lobby. Faculty, staff and students can learn about the Center and the opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
The following are among the recently funded Wake the Arts Center projects
- Hip Hop Literacy Donovan Livingston, director of college thriving, and teaching assistant Professor of Music at UNC-Chapel will draw on personal experiences as well as scholarship to examine the role of culture, hip-hop and spoken word poetry in student experiences in higher and postsecondary education.
- The “Art, Community, and Campus Memorialization Panel Discussion” and the Opening Reception for “Escape Velocities: New Acquisitions to the Reece Collection of Student-Acquired Contemporary Art.” RSVPs are requested for these events.
- Tanganza: Faculty and Guest Artist Concert with Jacqui Carrasco and Marco Sartor WFU music faculty join with guest singer Lorena Guillén and guest bassist and composer Alejandro Rutty to celebrate classic Argentine tangos as well as the nuevo tango style of today.
Exhibitions at Hanes Gallery, Reynolda, Lam Museum of Anthropology, and the student-run stArt Gallery are ongoing.

Season Tickets Now Available
Season tickets include all four University Theatre productions. Prices are $60 for adults, $40 for senior citizens or WFU faculty/staff and $30 for students. Purchase on the University’s ticket website here. Individual tickets are also available closer to each performance.

Wake Forest University and Medical School faculty, staff and retirees receive free admission for themselves and one guest to each Secrest Artists Series performance. Secure free tickets to one or all performances on the University’s ticket website here. Wake Forest students also receive free admission by presenting their WFU IDs.
