Severe thunderstorms possible today, August 7

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Central North Carolina. There is a risk of severe storms this afternoon and early evening. The greatest risk is between 3 and 7 p.m. Damaging wind gusts and local power outages are possible.

In the event severe weather poses a threat to the Winston-Salem/Wake Forest University area, University Police will share a Wake Alert message to let the community know it is unsafe to be outside. Be prepared to take action and seek shelter quickly if severe weather conditions develop.

Faculty and staff should confirm their mobile number is updated in Workday to receive text alerts. Students should log into the Wake Information Network (WIN) at win.wfu.edu to update contact information.
