A guest post by Marianne Magjuka, assistant dean of students and executive director, Office of Civic & Community Engagement

Shelley Sizemore (’06, ’09), Director of Community Partnerships in the Office of Civic & Community Engagement, has been named Director of Wake Forest’s Women’s Center. She will begin her new role on July 1.

Shelley has contributed her talents at Wake Forest for 13 years. As the founding Coordinator of Campus Kitchen, she established the infrastructure and foundational programming for the Campus Kitchen, which continues to be a robust learning opportunity for student leaders and an important source of nutritious meals in the Winston-Salem community.

She has touched almost every aspect of service and leadership programming, including leading community-based global learning experiences in India and South Africa; advising student groups and organizations; and developing programs like Dash Corps and Civic Scholars.

In the Pro Humanitate Institute, Shelley served as Director of Academic Community Engagement. She managed the Academic Community Engagement (ACE) Fellows program for faculty and worked collaboratively to establish the ACE course designation for service-learning courses at WFU.

In the OCCE, Shelley has worked closely with community partners to design community-based projects, clinics, and courses. As the inaugural Director of Community Partnerships, she established and strengthened partnerships with organizations across Forsyth County.

She serves as co-director of the Winston-Salem Community Action Coalition, our AmeriCorps*VISTA project, and is a vocal advocate for national service programs. Shelley also directs the Summer Nonprofit Immersion Program, a public internship program for undergraduates.

The Office of Civic & Community Engagement will host a drop-in reception to celebrate Shelley on June 28 from 3-4:30 p.m. Please send Shelley congratulations and visit her in the Women’s Center!
