COVID-19 vaccine update

The following message is shared on behalf of Wake Forest University Human Resources; it was emailed to faculty and staff on March 8, 2021.

Colleagues,

Thank you to those who were able to join Friday’s Faculty and Staff Forum. If you were unable to join, a recording of the forum will be available on Our Way Forward later this week. Included below is a recap of key information:

Today’s On-Campus Vaccine Clinic

A temporary vaccine clinic, operated by WFBH, has been set up today at Sutton Center on the Reynolda Campus to provide 320 doses of the Moderna vaccine. Faculty, staff, student workers and affiliated colleagues who have responded to the employee survey* and are now eligible in Group 3 have already received a communication directly from Human Resources and all appointments have been filled. Walk-in appointments are not available.

Additional On-Campus Vaccine Clinics

Two more temporary clinics will be held this Thursday, March 11, and Friday, March 12, at Sutton Center to provide at least 500 additional vaccine doses (200 doses Thursday and 300 doses Friday). Human Resources will email eligible colleagues with registration information early this week.

Other Vaccine Opportunities

Colleagues are encouraged to take advantage of any opportunity to get vaccinated, including:

If you have been able to secure an appointment through a community vaccination clinic, please keep your originally scheduled appointment.

Eligibility Guidelines

The NCDHHS sets the criteria for vaccination group eligibility; Wake Forest will continue to adhere to these criteria when notifying colleagues of vaccination opportunities. Any WFU employee working on-site is now eligible to be vaccinated in Group 3. All WFU employees are expected to be eligible to receive a vaccine in North Carolina beginning March 24.

*Employee Survey

With more than 2,000 WFU employees eligible in Group 3, Human Resources needed to be prepared to contact individuals who, based on their self-reported work circumstances, are the most at risk for exposure. The employee survey provides a simple calculation of the number of days per week on-site and the number of hours worked in close contact with others. Student employees, including resident advisors, have also received the survey. This prioritization process also helps those with time and access barriers to making community vaccination appointments, based on work schedules, gain access to vaccines.

I’ve been vaccinated, now what?

If you have received a vaccine at a community clinic or an on-campus clinic, let Human Resources know by re-completing the employee survey. This information will help the university plan for the allocation of vaccine doses at upcoming clinics. Even after receiving the vaccine, everyone should continue to practice safety measures, including wearing a mask and social distancing.

If you have questions about COVID-19 vaccine distribution and planning, please review these Frequently Asked Questions or submit your question(s) to Human Resources using this form.

Sincerely,
Wake Forest University Human Resources
