Methodology

The 2026 ranking is based on an independent survey of more than 245,000 employees working for U.S. organizations with at least 500 employees. Respondents evaluated their own employers and other organizations they knew, considering factors including workplace atmosphere, career development, company culture, compensation and working conditions. Forbes and Statista used those evaluations to determine the state rankings.
