This message is shared on behalf of the Wake Forest German National Team Organizing Committee

This summer, Wake Forest will welcome the German Men’s National Team as it prepares for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The visit will bring international attention to our campus and the Winston-Salem community.

As the team arrives and trains on campus, there will be temporary impacts to campus operations from June 7 to July 18.

Here’s what to expect

  • Road closures and traffic changes: Select campus roads near training and lodging areas, such as the Polo Road campus entrance, will have restricted access at times, especially during team arrivals, departures and training sessions.
  • Closed areas and buildings: Spry Stadium and North Dining Hall will be accessible only by properly credentialed campus partners. The Graylyn Estate and Polo Residence Hall will have restricted access during this time. In addition, Broyhill Auditorium will be reserved for private meetings and accessible only with proper credentials, with minimal impact on the rest of Farrell Hall.
  • Increased security presence: You will notice additional security measures in and around certain locations, especially at Spry Stadium, North Dining Hall, Broyhill Auditorium and The Graylyn Estate.
  • Parking adjustments: Parking Lot R2 will be closed during this time. You may also see higher parking volume in Parking Lots Q, W1, and W2. (parking map)
  • Activity and visibility: The number of media members and visitors on campus will increase.
  • Access to the team: There will be no access to the team during their time training at Spry Stadium or when residing at The Graylyn Estate.

The Graylyn Estate walking paths and entrances
From June 7 to July 18, the walking paths and vehicle entrances at The Graylyn Estate will be closed to ensure guest privacy and enforce security. For additional walking trails and path recommendations, visit the Visit Winston-Salem website

We appreciate your flexibility as we host this globally recognized team. This is a remarkable opportunity to showcase our Wake Forest community on an international stage, and we are committed to keeping you informed every step of the way.
