Mental / Behavioral Health Awareness Month at Wake Forest
May is Mental / Behavioral Health Awareness Month, which is a great opportunity for Wake Foresters to focus on their wellbeing and get the care they deserve. This month, Human Resources is featuring behavioral health benefits open to faculty, staff, and their family members.
“We want to be sure the University community knows about the support that is available and covered by health insurance,” says Shannon Araya (MSL ’21), Director, Absence and Benefits, at Wake Forest. “This includes access to therapists, online resources, and various programs that are available to support substance use disorders, suicide prevention, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other behavioral health needs.”
Wanting to start your behavioral health journey is one thing, but finding the right care can feel like a challenge. This is why WFU partners with Rula, which provides access to 15,000-plus high-quality, in-network providers. To learn more about Rula, join the upcoming webinar at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. Register at this link.
“This webinar will explain truly how quick and easy it is to find a therapist that meets the needs of faculty, staff, and/or their family members,” Araya says. “We are excited that Rula offers a tailored behavioral health experience, and we want to share how to get started.”
Faculty and staff are also encouraged to visit the new Behavioral Health Hub to delve into the other resources available. These include the following, which are just a sampling of programs:
For those enrolled in the WFU medical plan:
- Immediate support through Aetna 360TM Behavioral Health and Teladoc
- Suicide prevention through Talk Saves LivesTM and Vita Health
- Behavioral health services from Array AtHome, Brightside, and Equip Health
- Autism Spectrum Disorders support through Maxim Healthcare Services
For those not enrolled in the WFU medical plan:
- Atrium’s and New York Life’s employee assistance programs, which offer confidential and free support with trained counselors.
More information about these programs, and many more, is available on the University’s Behavioral Health Hub. You can also direct questions to the WFU Benefits team at benefits@wfu.edu or 336.758.4700. If you’ve been on the fence about starting your mental/behavioral health-care journey, let this month be your sign to get started.
