The KinderCare at Wake Forest University child care and early education center has achieved an NC 5-Star quality rating, the highest quality designation awarded by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) Division of Child Development and Early Education. The 5-Star rating reflects KinderCare’s commitment to providing an exceptional early childhood education experience that prioritizes a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children can thrive.

The rating goes into effect on March 20, less than six months after the center opened its doors. The establishment of this child care center specifically addressed the need for high-quality child care and early education for infants through pre-K in Winston-Salem.

“I experienced the child care desert first-hand when I first started working at Wake Forest,” said Ann Phelps, KinderCare parent and Director of Programming for Leadership and Character. “Now I can rely on a safe and healthy environment that cares for my child, and I am welcome to visit any time during the day.”

Additionally, the center will extend its operating hours following valuable feedback from parents. Effective March 17, KinderCare at WFU will open at 7:30 a.m., 30 minutes earlier, providing greater flexibility for working families.

KinderCare at Wake Forest University serves faculty, staff, and students and community members. Those interested in learning more about enrollment, tuition, and other details should contact the center directly at 336.666.5620.
