The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures will host the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Conference of the Association for Asian Studies on Jan. 26-28, 2024, at the historic Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in downtown Winston-Salem.

The SEC/AAS meeting is a vibrant gathering of a wide range of scholars, from graduate students to senior professors and independent researchers. Participants will present on a wide range of topics related to the study of Asia, including but not limited to literary and cultural studies, history, politics, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, religion, and philosophy. The 2024 SEC/AAS will also feature K-12 Teachers Outreach panels, New Book Showcase panels, an Undergraduate Presentation and Poster Showcase, and a keynote speech by Hyaeweol Choi (Stanley Family and Korea Foundation Chair in Korean Studies at the University of Iowa and AAS Vice President), “Home Cooking and Gendered Labor in Global Korea.”
