Jennifer Greiman named Director of the Humanities Institute

Jennifer GreimanProfessor of English Jennifer Greiman has been named Director of the Humanities Institute, beginning January 1.

Winifred W. Palmer Professor of English Dean Franco has served as director of the Institute since 2017. Franco along with Kahle Professor of Religious Studies and Albritton Fellow Mary Foskett (the Institute’s first director), Sally Barbour, professor of Romance Languages; and David Phillips, associate professor of Interdisciplinary Humanities — laid the groundwork and secured the funding that made the Institute possible.

The Humanities Institute was founded in October 2010 to foster interdisciplinary and collaborative scholarship and explore creative ways to use knowledge to solve real-world problems.

The Institute establishes programs and provides funding for University faculty in the humanities and other fields of study engaging in humanistic inquiry and scholarship. It also fosters collaboration among faculty, and between faculty and students, to generate new scholarship and creative work, inspire new directions in teaching, and create vibrant university-wide networks in interdisciplinary humanities, digital humanities, narrative medicine and the engaged humanities.
