Campus construction to begin on Wake Forest Rd. and Shuttle Hub
Following Commencement, construction will begin on two major campus improvement projects: a centralized shuttle stop replacing Lot N and the extension of Wake Forest Road from the Reynolda Road entrance through Davis Field.
Information on these projects is available in this InsideWFU post from March announcing the construction.
Construction will begin on May 18 and continue throughout the summer. The work is expected to be completed by fall 2022.
Please note the following:
The intersection at lower Davis Field and Scales from the Reynolda Road campus entrance will temporarily change to single-lane traffic. There will be intermittent, one-day closures to this intersection. Facilities and Campus Services will inform the community ahead of time when possible. The intersection is expected to fully reopen by mid-July.
Beginning May 23, Lot B(between Taylor and Davis Residence Halls)will be closed. Fencing will be installed, but the sidewalks will remain accessible. Traffic will be single lane through the intersection during this time.
Lot N (between Kitchin and Poteat Residence Halls) and some of the surrounding sidewalks will be closed during construction of the Shuttle Hub. Pedestrians will be able to cross the intersection during all construction phases but will need to exercise caution and obey the contractor’s traffic control personnel. The intersection at Lot N will be single-lane traffic during construction.
Repairs to Kitchin Hall will be happening in conjunction with construction of the Shuttle Hub. Pedestrian traffic on Hearn Plaza in front of the Deacon Shop may be redirected for short periods of time as needed.
Facilities and Campus Services will share updates throughout the summer. Contact Karen Hart Huey (hartk@wfu.edu) with questions or concerns.
