Ken Gilson named Wake Forest University registrar and asst. provost

Ken GilsonKen Gilson has been named University registrar and assistant provost of academic administration, effective October 1.

Gilson, currently the dean of academic records and university registrar at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif., has more than 20 years of experience in higher education. He has held registrar positions with Western Oregon University and National-Louis University in Chicago.

“Ken’s broad understanding of academic affairs, student information systems and institutional research will serve Wake Forest well,” says Provost Rogan Kersh. “The search committee was committed to hiring a registrar who has a proven record of supporting diverse students, faculty and staff. One committed to bringing a forward-looking vision to academic records and administrative functions. We found these qualities in Ken, and we are looking forward to welcoming him this fall.”

Gilson holds a doctor of education from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in information technology and privacy law from the University of Illinois at Chicago John Marshall Law School, and an undergraduate degree in psychology from Wheaton College.

In March, University Registrar Harold Pace announced plans to retire in the fall of 2020. In his remaining months, he will focus on helping faculty and students administratively so that they can stay on track with their academic priorities.
