Wake Forest visitor/campus access guidelines

A message sent on behalf of WFU Communications and External Relations

In accordance with public health guidance and in order to slow the potential of transmission of the COVID-19 virus and protect vulnerable populations from exposure, Wake Forest University is limiting all campus functions to essential ones. Faculty and staff have been directed to work remotely, where possible, effective immediately.

All campus tours, visits and information sessions have been discontinued until further notice. In general, visitors should avoid coming to campus until normal operations resume.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, March 17: Campus community members must show their WFU ID or authorized parking hang tag at the Reynolda Road and University Parkway entrances. Visitors will need to request entrance at the gatehouses located at those entrances. The Polo Road gate will be closed.

Wake Forest community members, with valid Deacon One cards, can scan their ID in the outer lane at the gatehouses. Faculty Drive members without Deacon One cards should use the inner lane.

Buildings will be accessible only by card access.

Residential students

The number of residential students that have been approved to remain in on-campus housing has been significantly reduced to students with special circumstances only. These students will not be permitted to host short-term guests or host any overnight guests in campus residential facilities, whether they are Wake Forest students or not. This policy will be in effect until further notice and applies to residence halls and apartments, for both daytime and overnight guests.

Non-residential students

Graduate and undergraduate students who reside off campus will still have access to campus via their Wake Forest ID card at both the Reynolda Road and University Parkway entrances.

Faculty and staff should not bring their children to campus and should discuss any child care concerns with their unit head (e.g., department chair, dean, director, vice president) or supervisor.

Consultants, contractors and delivery drivers should contact their Wake Forest partners before coming to campus to clarify whether those offices will or will not be staffed and accepting visitors and deliveries.

Everyone traveling from locations with an elevated risk of COVID-19 exposure within the last 14 days, regardless if you are exhibiting symptoms of the COVID-19 or not, should not come to campus prior to completing a 14-day period of self-isolation. In addition, visitors who have had direct contact with a patient confirmed to have COVID-19 or with someone who is under care for suspected exposure to COVID-19 should not be on campus within 14 days of such contact.

All guidance is subject to change based on public health guidance. Please visit the Wake Forest Coronavirus website for updates.
