Campus Crime Update: No Gun Involved

This campus crime update was emailed to students, faculty and staff on Nov. 29 by Wake Forest Communications and External Relations:

The University Police Department determined tonight, Nov. 29,  that it was a fake handgun that was seen by students in Parking Lot N, between Kitchin and Poteat residence halls, around 9:30 p.m.

Students reported to University Police tonight that they saw what appeared to be two groups of men arguing in the parking lot and that one of the men apparently held a handgun.

An investigation by University Police tonight determined that the handgun was not real.  It was a fake gun, described by police as a Nerf gun.  Police also determined that all of the individuals involved are Wake Forest students and they were not, actually, arguing.

The University Police Department has identified the students involved. There was no altercation taking place.

The investigation is concluding.
