Parking recommendations for Thursday, Friday

Several events this week will require closing partial and complete parking lots in order to accommodate many visitors and guests, especially Thursday and Friday, Oct. 17-18. We wish to share the following list of closures and provide parking recommendations/options for faculty and staff during these two days.

Whenever parking lots are closed for event parking, carpooling is a smart option to consider as it saves gas and time looking for a parking space.

Faculty/Staff Parking Recommendations/Options:

Thursday, Oct. 17

  • Parking Lot J, located behind Collins and South Residence Halls, is open for faculty, staff and general parking. This lot is the least utilized on campus and should provide parking throughout the day.
  • Parking Lot Q has routine openings on a daily basis. Access to this lot can be found off of Allen Easley Drive for those entering campus through the Reynolda Gate and access from Carroll Weathers for those entering off Polo Rd.
  • UCC – Shuttle service from the UCC is provided if you chose to avoid the congestion of campus parking. The Gray Line schedule, which serves UCC and campus, can be found at Ride the Wake.
  • Also served by the Gray Line shuttle, parking space availability for faculty and staff can also be found at the Winston Salem First Church which is a short walk to campus. Parking is located on the left side (west side) of Long Drive after you cross Polo Rd.

Friday, Oct. 18

Since Friday parking demand on campus is typically the lightest of the week, demand should be manageable with the added volume.

  • Additional parking for faculty and staff will be available on lower Davis Field. A shuttle bus will provide service between lower Davis Field (front of Scales) and the Benson Center from 7:30 a.m.–6 p.m.
