Kevin Frazier, an assistant professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance, recently received a Suzi Bass Award in the “Outstanding Lighting Design-Musical” category at the 13th Annual Suzi Bass Awards in Atlanta.

BroadwayWorld Atlanta announced the award winners from the Nov. 6 awards ceremony at Oglethorpe University.  Atlanta professional theatre artists, producers and patrons gathered to celebrate the 2016-17 season of plays and musicals at the awards ceremony.

Frazier’s award was for his contributions to a production of “The Bridges of Madison County” at Aurora Theatre.

“On behalf of the Department of Theatre and Dance, we are  very proud that Kevin is the recipient of the Suzi Bass Award for Lighting Design,” said Professor Nina Lucas, department chair.  “His accomplishments and recognition comes as no surprise to us.  In Kevin’s short time at Wake Forest, he has proven to be a major asset to our department as supportive and active colleague.”

Lucas and Rob Eastman Mullins, associate professor and associate chair of the department, praised Frazier for his extraordinary contributions to students’ experiences in the department.

“His positive attitude is contagious and his energetic and exciting teaching style pulls the students in,” Lucas said.

Mullins added that Frazier “has thrown himself headlong into developing students’ professional futures, utilizing his numerous contacts from his outside creative work.”

Frazier joined the Wake Forest faculty in 2016. He is a freelance lighting, sound and projections designer who works across the East Coast.  He has worked on more than 100 professional shows.  Previously, he was nominated for several Suzi Bass Awards.
