New feature: Enable live transcription for Zoom meetings

Live transcription (real-time subtitle/captioning) is now available within Zoom meetings for Wake Forest University accounts. This feature allows attendees to enable on-screen machine-generated subtitles/captions and an associated transcript during the meeting. It is not currently available when using breakout rooms or Zoom Webinar. To start using this feature, visit zoom.wfu.edu, sign in with your WFU credentials, and navigate to “Settings.”


Information Systems and the Technology Accessibility Program

This semester, the Accessible Content Working Group (ACWG), a part of the Technology Accessibility Program, will bring several new resources to our campus, including accessibility blog posts, tips and workshops. For the first topic, “Improving Accessibility and Inclusion in Virtual Spaces,” the ACWG offers a blog and resource that share the importance and impact of enhancing accessibility in today’s many virtual engagements.

Updates from HR: Wente named WFU President, employee survey, events and Zoom accessibility

Wake Forest University Human Resources shared updates in a Feb. 3 email to faculty and staff regarding the University’s 14th President Dr. Susan R. Wente, the COVID-19 vaccine employee survey, Flexible Spending Account (FSA) relief, live transcriptions in Zoom, Black History Month, the “Guns, Democracy, and the Insurrectionist Idea” speaking event, and student workload insight from Betsy Barre and the Center for the Advancement of Teaching.


COVID-19 vaccination planning update

Wake Forest University Human Resources sent an update on COVID-19 vaccination planning to faculty and staff on Feb. 3, 2021. All active full- and part-time faculty and staff should accurately self-identify their personal work circumstances by completing the COVID-19 Vaccination Planning – Employee Survey, which will be sent later today.
