Bob Shorter, retired English professor, passes away
Categories: University AnnouncementsWe are saddened to share that retired professor of English Robert N. (Bob) Shorter died at Salemtowne on Saturday, July 10. He taught medieval literature for 41 years at Wake Forest from 1958-1999 where he was chairman of the English department for 12 years and associate dean of the Graduate School.

School of Medicine receives full approval to open instructional site in Charlotte

Richard Wiliams, retired physics professor, passes away
Categories: University AnnouncementsRetired physics professor Richard T. Williams passed away July 5, 2021, after a brief struggle with AML leukemia. He was 75. After a successful early career at the Naval Research Laboratory, he was recruited back to Wake Forest as the Reynolds Professor of Physics. Ashleigh Hala named director of the Office of Wellbeing
Categories: University AnnouncementsFollowing a national search, Ashleigh Hala, MSW, LCSW, has been named director of the Office of Wellbeing at Wake Forest University. Hala, a licensed clinical social worker, has most recently served as director of Wellness & Prevention Services at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Gilead COMPASS Initiative Faith Coordinating Center awards grants to organizations addressing HIV crisis
Categories: University AnnouncementsThe new Gilead COMPASS Initiative Faith Coordinating Center at Wake Forest University School of Divinity has awarded grants to 17 organizations working to address the HIV crisis in the American South. Recipients are rooted in over ten states, and the majority are led by Black, Indigenous, people of color.
