University Police earns national accreditation

The Wake Forest University Police Department has earned accreditation from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), the leading authority on campus public safety. Through a comprehensive review process, University Police demonstrated compliance with nationally recognized standards and best practices in campus law enforcement. Fewer than 100 agencies have achieved this distinction.
“We congratulate Wake Forest University on achieving IACLEA Accreditation, a unique distinction among campus police and public safety agencies,” said IACLEA President Rob Kilfoyle, director of Public Safety & Emergency Management at Humber College. “The men and women protecting your campus have proven through policy and practice their commitment to operating at the highest level of the profession.”
IACLEA Accreditation reflects an agency’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement across all aspects of its operations. The standards address areas including recruitment, selection, training, professional development and organizational practices.
This recognition underscores the department’s dedication to serving students, faculty, staff and visitors through professional, standards-based policing practices.
Accreditation also promotes increased accountability, enhanced operational effectiveness and a commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
To prepare for the onsite assessment, University Police reviewed and updated policies and operational procedures, provided opportunities for public comment and hosted assessors on campus. The department will seek reaccreditation in four years.
Representatives from University Police will be recognized for this achievement during IACLEA’s Annual Conference & Exposition in June 2026.
