As the spring semester races to a close, we need your help to make the Deacs Donate program a success! Every year, Wake Forest’s campus comes together to help students divert move-out waste, including furniture, clothing, bikes, books, and much more.

The Deacs Donate program has been an essential part of the student move-out process for 15 years. By partnering with Goodwill to collect donations, we divert waste from the landfill while giving back to the community. Since 2010, Deacs Donate has given over 230 tons of donations to Goodwill and other partnering charities.

In the Pro Humanitate spirit, we ask that faculty, staff, and families help spread the word to students and encourage them to start planning their move-out.

Large blue bins will start being placed in and around residence halls the week of April 20 and contents will be regularly collected; we ask that you urge students to learn what’s accepted for donation vs. what’s not before they contribute to the bins. To honor the intention of the program and partnership, please do not remove items from the bins or designated donation areas on the lawns of residence halls.

If students are looking for a way to thrift items, encourage them to attend the free Move-Out Swap taking place on April 23, where they can bring any gently used items and pick up something new-to-them.

Students should review the accepted items for donation on the Deacs Donate page. More information about the student move-out process can found on the RL&H move-out landing page.

The Deacs Donate program is a partnership between Wake Forest University and Goodwill Industries of Northwest NC, facilitated by the Facilities Surplus & Events team, Residence Life and Housing, and the Office of Sustainability.
