The University recently learned that Professor Emerita Claudia Thomas Kairoff passed away on Friday, April 4. Claudia retired from Wake Forest in 2022 after 35 years of service as a professor of English. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, she served as chair of the Department of English, interim chair of the Departments of Theatre and Art, and associate dean.

A 2024 Medallion of Merit recipient, Claudia also launched a junior faculty mentorship program and led efforts to establish onsite childcare for University employees during her tenure.

The Wake Forest community extends our condolences to Claudia’s family and friends.
