Thursdays at Byrum HallThe Provost and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions invite faculty and staff to Thursdays at the Porter B. Byrum Welcome and Admissions Center on Sept. 6.

A wine and cheese reception will run from 4-4:30 p.m., followed by a program from 4:30-5:15 p.m. that will feature Rogan Kersh, Rebecca Alexander, Shannon Mihalko and John H. Knox.

Kersh, the provost and a professor of politics and international affairs, will discuss the question, “Should government officials be involved in efforts to address the U.S. obesity epidemic? If so, are any promising policy options available?”

Alexander, associate professor of chemistry, and Mihalko, associate professor of health and exercise science, will describe how the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URECA) Center is working to promote and celebrate faculty-student collaborative scholarship.

Knox, the Henry C. Lauerman Professor of International Law, will discuss the question, “Is there a human right to a healthy environment?”
