Wake Forest will welcome a new freshman class early on Friday, Aug. 24, when freshman move-in begins at 8 a.m. For faculty and staff scheduled to be on campus that busy morning, the University has recommendations for where to enter campus and park.
More information
Residence Life and Housing has asked that you notify suppliers to not deliver anything before 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24. Because of the increased volume of traffic, delivery vehicles will experience a delay in getting around campus.
The University suggests that faculty and staff enter campus through the Polo Road entrance and park in Lot Q, by turning onto Carroll Weathers Drive on the right. Access to Lot Q from that location has been closed this summer, but it will be open by move-in day.
Faculty and staff may also want to park in lots on either side of Long Drive, near Winston-Salem First Church and Polo Road. A shuttle bus will provide transportation to and from those lots and the bus stop shelter on Wake Forest Road. The shuttle will run from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
On that day, the University will not operate the Gray Line shuttle that normally operates between University Corporate Center and campus.
New students and their families will be entering campus for move-in at the University Parkway and Reynolda Road entrances. Traffic will be heavy at those locations.
In addition, the University is expecting the arrival of returning students on Sunday and Monday, Aug. 26 and 27, prompting some lot closures to meet the needs of students and families at that time. On Sunday and Monday, faculty and staff will be able to park in limited portions of Lots A and P (adjacent to Wait Chapel), but other Hearn Plaza-area lots will be entirely closed for move-in.
The University is committed making this the best possible time for new students and their families, and as convenient as possible for faculty and staff. Thanks for your cooperation.
