Wake Forest University recently announced adding Alertus Desktop to its emergency communication tools. Alertus Desktop is a mass notification desktop alert software that immediately grabs attention with a full-screen desktop pop-up alert.

The University’s spring emergency testing plan for Tuesday, Feb. 27, included testing the new feature on faculty and staff computers. During the testing on Tuesday, the University police communications team learned that adjustments were needed for the desktop alert to work properly with Wake Alert.

The adjustments have been completed.

At 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, on the second day of pre-planned spring emergency testing, the desktop alert tool will be re-tested to ensure the problem has been resolved. The pop-up alert will be shared on faculty and staff computers only. Faculty and staff working remotely will not receive an alert on their Wake Forest laptop unless they are connected to VPN at the time the alert goes out.

No action is required to the alert message during this test. Testing will be carried out by the University Police Department and the Office of Communications and External Relations.
