On Thursday, Sept. 21, the Secrest Artists Series opens its 2023-24 concert season with jazz pianist Jason Moran and The Bandwagon. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall, Scales Fine Arts Center.

The Secrest Artists Series presents world-class performances free of charge to Wake Forest faculty and staff, medical school faculty and staff and University retirees for themselves and one guest to each Secrest Artists Series performance. WFU students receive free admission for themselves.

A new ticketing procedure makes it easy to request tickets for one or all of the season’s performances. For more information or questions about tickets, contact the Secrest Artists Series at 336-758-5757.

Pianist and composer Jason Moran has established himself as a risk-taker and trendsetter for new directions in jazz. Rolling Stone calls him “the most provocative thinker in current jazz.” Moran’s talent has earned him a prestigious MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellowship and the title of Kennedy Center Artistic Director for Jazz. Since 2000, Moran and his trio, The Bandwagon (Tarus Mateen, bass, and Nasheet Waits, drums), have dazzled audiences at venues worldwide.
