logoWake Forest University Police Department has launched a new student-produced podcast called “What’s U.P. at Wake?” The podcast offers an additional opportunity for Wake Forest students, faculty and staff to connect with UPD and learn more about their team and the work they do in service to the Wake Forest community.

“My goal for the podcast is to enhance the community’s understanding of the services and programs we provide and to expand the ways UPD shares information about our department, our people and other partnerships,” said UPD Chief Regina Lawson.

In the inaugural episode, Chief Lawson shares how the idea for the podcast developed. The nine-minute episode also includes an officer spotlight with Sergeant Scott Smith and safety tips.

New episodes will be announced on Wake Forest Police Twitter @WFUPD and on Wake Forest University Police Instagram at wfupd.

Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to share feedback and ideas for upcoming podcasts at upsocial@wfu.edu.

UPD community engagement

UPD is committed to building relationships and providing a safe and inclusive community. University police offer a variety of programs including the Citizens Police Academy which consists of nine weekly presentations on topics such as community policing, firearm safety and emergency communications. The academy is open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees.

All are also welcome to attend Pizza with the Police, a monthly opportunity for free pizza and the chance to share a meal and conversation with University Police staff. “We want our community to get to know us as people not just officers.
