A guest post from Wake Forest’s Mentoring Resource Center

Every January, we celebrate National Mentoring Month as a way to welcome everyone back to campus and recommit to the importance of building mentoring relationships at Wake Forest. The WFU Mentoring Resource Center’s National Mentoring Month theme for this year is “Managing Well.”

The Mentoring Resource Center serves as a central office for the entire Wake Forest community and provides guidance, resources, support, and recognition for Wake Forest mentoring relationships and programs. We invite faculty and staff to learn more about upcoming mentoring-related opportunities this spring semester for faculty, staff and students.

You can learn more and download resources on our  WFU National Mentoring Month 2023 webpage.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing some tips and resources on Instagram @wfuopcd and on Twitter @WFUMentoring specifically targeted at helping students better manage different aspects of their lives well, including:

  • Managing relationships (with peers, mentors, networking contacts)
  • Managing organizations as a student leader
  • Managing work (as a student or employee)
  • Managing future plans

We are also partnering with the Office of Alumni Engagement and the University Counseling Center to offer a 4-part workshop series, Year One 101, designed to help current seniors develop strategies to manage the transition to life after Wake Forest. Please spread the word to your senior students! For more information and to register for any of the workshops, visit the Year One 101 Workshop Series website.

Additionally, we’re offering our Online Introductory Mentoring Skills Course again this year from Feb. 1 – March 1. This is a virtual, self-paced course that is open to WFU faculty, staff, students and alumni. Space is limited to 100 registrants, so grab your spot before the January 27 deadline! Learn more here.
