WFDD’s bilingual reporter Eileen Rodriguez will join a panel for a presentation led by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust at the upcoming Grantmakers in Health conference in Miami on June 28. The session, “How A Healthy News Ecosystem Supports Healthy Communities,” will demonstrate the link between accurate information and healthy choices and how investing in journalism and community news sources can help to change health disparities and deep inequities by race and place.

Rodriguez is a Report For America corps member, who works in WFDD’s newsroom and with Spanish language publication La Noticia reporting on COVID-19’s disproportionate impact on our region’s Hispanic and Latinx communities. This partnership was supported by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust.

During the session, Rodriguez will have the opportunity to talk about the reporting partnership and share examples of the stories she has produced that provided vital information to our Hispanic and Latinx communities and shed a light on how the pandemic has affected those communities.
