Three staff members of the undergraduate Admissions and Financial Aid offices at Wake Forest University have been promoted or assumed new responsibilities.

Martha B. Allman has been promoted to director of admissions. Formerly associate director of admissions, Allman joined Wake Forest’s staff in 1982. She is assuming primary responsibility for management of the daily undergraduate admissions operations, ranging from student recruitment activities and marketing to application processing.

Allman earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a master of business administration degree from Wake Forest.

Thomas O. Phillips has been promoted to director of merit scholarships. He was formerly associate director of admissions and scholarships officer. Phillips’ new responsibilities include coordinating undergraduate merit and talent scholarship programs.

Phillips earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from Wake Forest and a doctorate in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joined Wake Forest’s staff in 1974, but left the university from 1978 to 1982 to pursue his doctorate.

William T. Wells, director of financial aid, is assuming new responsibilities, but his title remains the same. His additional responsibilities include overseeing and managing all financial aid funds. Previously, he managed only need-based financial aid.

Wells joined Wake Forest’s staff in 1998. He received a bachelor’s degree in history from Wake Forest and master’s degrees in history and higher education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
