Many international educators share a common experience: Once abroad, they discover that most of their students want to meet the locals, but lack the tools to make the interactions effective. They find students remain “in the bubble” because they are often oblivious to how the local culture works, how people are expected to act, and what core values underpin those expectations. They wish they could find more and better ways to help their students interact with locals and make the most of their study abroad experiences.

On Feb. 10-11, 2012, Wake Forest will host the fourth annual Workshop on Intercultural Skills Enhancement (WISE). Designed for faculty and staff who teach short- and long-term programs abroad, this practitioner’s workshop features international education experts who will share insights, strategies and personal experiences about intercultural competency in practical, hands-on sessions.

Register by Nov. 30 to get the early bird rates.
