More than 100 faculty and staff members and about 75 students have joined forces to help build a house for Habitat for Humanity this fall.

Groups from the Reynolda Campus and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center have worked on the house in the Smith Farm neighborhood, near Kernersville, several times a week since early September. The house is expected to be finished in November.

Sylvia Oberle, executive director for Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County, said she appreciated the help of the Wake Forest volunteers.

“Our staff has said they’re one of the best volunteer groups that we have,” she said. “Their work sessions are always fully signed up, with waiting lists, and they’re very hard workers. It’s been a good experience for us and for them, too, we hope.”

Wake Forest volunteers helped build a Habitat house last year in a different neighborhood.
