Former staff member John DeFere has passed away

The University recently learned that John DeFere passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026. John served the University for 6 years as an associate director in custodial services. 

The Wake Forest community extends its condolences to John’s family and friends. A recognition service will be held in Wichita, Kansas at the Botanica Gardens on August 8, 2026. An obituary can be found here.
