A message from Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Mur Muchane

Dear Colleagues,

In a period of extraordinary technological acceleration, particularly in artificial intelligence, our community has chosen to pair innovation with thoughtful purpose.

The 2025 Information Systems Year in Review tells the story of that shared work. It highlights a collective effort to learn, question, and responsibly explore AI’s potential, guided always by Pro Humanitate. From the launch of ai.wfu.edu to the conversations sparked at AI Fest and the AI Café, we focused on a deliberate, ethical, and human-centered approach to these emerging tools.

Across all these efforts, a consistent theme emerges: technology has the greatest impact when it is collaborative, inclusive, and in service to people.

As we look toward 2026, I trust you will see how our progress is measured not by tools alone, but by how thoughtfully we choose to use them.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership in this ongoing journey of shared discovery.

Mur Muchane
