Retired Faculty member Richard Barnett has passed away

The university recently learned that Professor Emeritus of History Richard Barnett passed on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. Richard served the University for over 36 years, retiring in 1997. 

During his tenure, Richard served twice as department chair and was a beloved professor to generations of Wake Forest students. His courses included topics such as the history of the British aristocracy and the history of London, which he taught at the University’s Worrell House.
