The WFU Technology Accessibility Team and the Accessible Content Working Group are sponsoring the fifth annual Extreme Makeover: PDF Edition. This initiative supports the mission of making campus websites and digital content more inclusive by eliminating inaccessible portable document format (PDF) files.

This year, a limited number of faculty are also invited to join in by addressing the PDFs within their courses.

About the Event

Throughout November and into early December, participating offices and faculty will have the opportunity to improve the accessibility of their digital content by:

  • Removing or deleting outdated PDFs.
  • Converting PDF documents and forms to other efficient and accessible formats.
  • Creating fully accessible versions of necessary PDFs.

More details about the event are available on the Extreme Makeover: PDF Edition website.

How to Participate

Participants can commit as little as an hour a week, or more time if schedules permit. Individuals with the greatest improvements will be recognized, and all participants will receive a digital completion badge for the WFU Extreme Makeover: PDF Edition.

To participate, individuals should complete this form by the end of the day on Oct. 31, 2025. The form requires the URL (e.g., accessibility.wfu.edu) for a WFU website or a course that the participant manages. Participants will engage with the PDFs from that specified website or course during the Makeover.

Individuals are encouraged to forward this event message, particularly to anyone who might benefit from this opportunity. The event sponsors had a great response to last year’s event and anticipate high participation this year.
